♥ Easy and Adorable: Tutorial on Making a Cute Heart Brooch with Tiny Daisies

Welcome!

Today, I am delighted to present to you an elegant heart brooch design crafted from blue felt. This unique brooch features charming three-dimensional embroidered daisies in a potted setting.

You may have come across two brooch tutorial guides I shared previously.
If you haven't, taking a look at those tutorials can aid your understanding of the brief overview I will provide here.

In this guide, I won't delve into excessive details. Instead, I'll focus on presenting you with the essential steps. Let's begin and briefly outline the process:

Firstly, I take the blue felt and use a water-resistant pen to sketch out the desired size and shape of a heart.

Now it's time to create the adorable daisies.
When forming the daisy petals, consider the raised and dimensional appearance of the pot. For this reason, you can employ a technique like the Picot stitch to achieve a dimensional look.

Alternatively, similar to my approach in this project, you can create the Picot stitch similar to the Woven Bar stitch.
As I create the Picot stitch, I start from the pointed end, utilizing the left strand as a single thread. Then, I continue by treating the middle and right strands as if they were a single strand, working between the two strands as I progress towards the base of the picot. This approach yields delicate-looking petals and simplifies working between two strands, compared to managing three strands.
To enhance the allure of the daisies, I employ delicate French knot stitches in a lovely shade of yellow to form small, rounded flower centers. For a step-by-step visual demonstration, please refer to the accompanying images.
I finalize the bouquet's appearance by embroidering the slender stems and delicate leaves of the daisies using the stem stitch.

Taking the  front layer, I overlay it onto the lace-edged middle layer. Employing the same thread used for the lace, I skillfully sew the two pieces together. As depicted in the images, I ensure the stitches harmoniously follow the crochet lace's loops. The additional stitches seamlessly blend with the existing lace, resulting in a continuous and harmonious appearance.

I take the front piece and place it over the lace-edged back piece.
Using the same thread used for the lace, I sew the two pieces together. As you can see in the pictures, I create harmonious stitches that follow the loops of the crochet lace.
The stitches I add later blend seamlessly with the existing lace, creating a continuous and consistent look.
I sew the pot-shaped button onto the chosen spot on the brooch using a needle and thread. Adding an artistic touch, I embroider a heart-shaped frame of small leaves around the pot.
Using yellow thread, I create delightful French knot stitches to form tiny flower motifs, enhancing the brooch with a charming floral effect.

My brooch is now beginning to take shape. As you can see in the image below, I am creating the backside of the brooch. I am using a lighter shade of blue felt this time.

First, I cut a piece of felt for the backside that is the same size as the front piece I initially cut. Additionally, I prepare a small rectangular piece of felt. For the brooch pin, I will be using a small-sized gold-colored safety pin.

I place the safety pin vertically in the center of the backside felt. To secure the back of the safety pin to the felt, I use the small rectangular piece. You can see how I do this in the images.
After sewing the rectangular piece to the backside along its edges, I embroider tiny green leaves and small yellow French knots.

This not only provides a sturdier stitch but also conceals the stitches used to attach the rectangular felt piece. Finally, I complete the backside by stitching it to the middle piece along the edges using discreet hidden stitches.

Voilà! Here is my completed brooch, with both the front and back sides visible in the images. This concludes today's tutorial.
